Greetings from sunny Zagreb!
We are so grateful for your prayers and support! Thanks to you, BIZG faculty is hard at work for our summer semester (which runs
from February through June. Let me describe some of the classes you are enabling us to teach, and the good things that are happening here.
SARAJEVO : your prayers and support have opened the door for us to spread our program in advanced Bible knowledge into Bosnia. Monika Bajić recently taught Introduction to the Old Testament in Sarajevo at the Evangelical Church there. We have about 17 students in this class, most of them young and emerging leaders in the church in Sarajevo.
When asked about the class content, she said, “We explored the importance of the Old Testament for Christians, and the peculiarities of Jewish literature. And we focused particularly on Genesis, especially Genesis 1-3.”
complicated environment, and we are thrilled and humbled to be used by God to strengthen them and help the believers in this war- torn country grow in faith and service. And YOU MADE IT HAPPEN, by your prayers and financial support.
NEW TESTAMENT II: Dr. Ervin Budiselić is teaching this class in Zagreb. His lectures focus on the growth of the first century church. “What situations were the churches facing? How did they respond? Unless we know those things, we cannot really understand what the authors said to the churches.”
SPIRITUAL FORMATION: Monika Bajić is also teaching this course. It introduces students to the things they can do to build their own virtue and character, and helps students assess and take responsibility for their own spiritual growth. She focuses on spiritual practices, as taught in the Bible and practiced in Christian tradition, that nurture the believer’s lifelong quest to abide in Christ.
CORINTHIANS: Goran Medved is offering this class online. Students will learn about the background of the letter and the particular problems that this letter addresses. “In a lot of ways, the Corinthian church faced many of the same problems that modern churches face; there really is nothing new under the sun,” said Dr. Stepp, BIZG’s president. “Studying Corinthians helps us better discipleship and dependence on Christ.”
CHRISTIAN ETHICS: Dr. Danijel Časni is teaching this class, where students learn the processes of making ethical decisions starting from a biblical perspective. Lectures deal with many current issues such as abortion, euthanasia, ecology, divorce, homosexuality, business ethics, etc., and how Christians should approach these issues from a biblically-formed perspective.
In addition to these classes for BIZG, several of our professors are teaching for the department of protestant theology at the University of Zagreb (Matija Vlačić Ilirik) and Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek.
We are honored to be your partners in south-central Europe, and we thank God for you and the impact you are having on the believers and churches here. Thank you for your prayers and your financial support.
